Jane's Farewell Concert - 8th December 2018

Jane Money conducted her last concert on 8th December at St Paul’s Church Brighton. It was a fitting occasion to end her fourteen year tenure.

The choir sang J.S.Bach’s Magnificat in the first half and finished with Haydn’s rousing Nelson Mass, warmly appreciated by a full church. We were fortunate to have a powerful line-up of soloists, all of whom had sung with the choir on previous occasions, and an excellent ad hoc orchestra. We are very grateful to our generous sponsors who supported the concert.

After the concert

After the concert, the choir went to one of our members’ houses in Hove for a memorable party, where a presentation and gift was made to Jane as a celebration of our wonderful years of music making with her and in appreciation of all we had achieved under her leadership.

Many highlights to look back on

We have many highlights to look back on over the last fourteen years. The musical ones were probably the collaborations with the Linden Baroque Orchestra from London, with whom we performed J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor on our 20th anniversary and his Christmas Oratorio on our 25th.

Then there was the collaboration with the Lux Perpetua choir from Paris which resulted in two visits and concerts at the American Cathedral in Paris. In 2014 we went to Llangollen to sing with the Cor Meibion Bro Glyndwr Welsh male voice choir after their visit to Brighton.

In 2010 we made a recording of a Requiem Mass, written by our accompanist Tim Nail. These are just a few highlights but I am sure our members will have their own personal ones.

We wish you well, Jane, in your future endeavours and as someone once wrote, “Thank you for Music”!
